In her role as director of public relations for Strayer University, Cristina Henley collaborates across numerous departments within her organization – Academic Programs, Faculty Affairs, University Development, Institutional Research, and Marketing among others – to develop strategic communications programs that touch all internal and external stakeholders and serve to raise awareness of Strayer University’s 120-year history and dynamic academic offerings for working adult students.  Previously, she led media relations, social media, community relations, corporate social responsibility campaigns, thought leadership activities, and partnerships with corporations such as Wal-Mart, Nordstrom, Kraft, and PepsiCo for public and private sector clients as an account director at Ogilvy PR, at the American Institutes for Research, and Cox telecommunications company.  Her expertise also includes developing research-based multicultural communications campaigns – in particular, for the Latino community – for corporate entities such as Adecco, one of the world’s largest staffing firms; and for public organizations such as the National Institutes of Health/National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke.  Cristina began her career as a local reporter for the Daleville Sun Courier and Southeast Sun in Alabama.  She earned her master’s degree in corporate communications (summa cum laude) from Austin Peay State University and bachelor’s degree in journalism from American University in Washington, D.C.
