Henry Acosta

Henry Acosta has made numerous contributions in Hispanic mental health policy, education and advocacy, as well as developing training opportunities for those working with Hispanics in need of mental health or substance use services. Henry's program which promotes mental health among underserved populations around the world, "Changing Minds, Advancing Mental Health for Hispanics," has been highlighted by key organizations such as the World Health Organization and the World Federation of Mental Health. In addition to his innovative work, Acosta has served various organizations such as the Puerto Rican Family Institute, March of Dimes NJ Chapter and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

For the past two decades, Henry Acosta has worked in various roles in the mental health field as a direct service provider, program director and agency administrator. He has witnessed and personally experienced, firsthand, the disparities that exist for many racial and ethnic minorities in accessing and receiving high quality, culturally and linguistically competent mental health care. He has become a very active, nationally recognized leader for improving care to Hispanics across the United States over the past 13 years.
